John Patterson, MPA

He is going to talk to our group about the progress on the construction of McLaren’s new hospital.  Given his history with the hospital, I’m sure John will be able to answer questions in many areas beyond just the new hospital also.
John Patterson, MPA is an Alumni of Ferris State University and Western Michigan University and maintains his license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. John’s dedication to McLaren and compassionately serving our patients is apparent to anyone who has worked with him during his decades-long tenure with McLaren Greater Lansing. John’s experience in overseeing many clinical areas will add a patient centered focus to the development of the new hospital.

Courtney Millbrook, Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Executive Director.  Courtney will share an update on LSO as well as the challenges and opportunities of performing arts groups during a pandemic.

Courtney Millbrook joined Lansing Symphony as Executive Director in October 2009.  As ED, she is responsible for the administrative operations of the $1.4 million dollar organization, supports a 30 person Board of Directors, works closes with the Music Director on all artistic matters, negotiates and implements a union contract with LSO musicians, and manages the administrative staff.  Initiatives led by Millbrook have a produced a more financially stable organization and ensured continued success as the LSO celebrates is 91st season.

In addition to her leadership responsibilities with the LSO, Millbrook is an active member of the greater Lansing community.  She is a member of the Lansing Rotary Club where she serves as a Board Member and Past President of the Lansing Rotary Club Foundation.  She is also a member of the Mayor’s Arts & Cultural Advisory Commission and a member of Athena WIN (Women Interest Network). She has also served as a volunteer for the Educational Child Care Center (EC3), Montessori Children’s House, Habitat for Humanity, Grand Ledge First United Methodist Church, MSU College of Music “Running Start Competition” judge, and as a peer review panelist for the Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs.

Courtney’s favorite accomplishment is being married to Delta Waverly Rotarian, Travis Millbrook.  Travis and Courtney has two awesome kids and a crazy dog who is mainly Travis’s responsibility (the dog not the kids!).

Community Highlight – Delta Waverly Backpack Program

We are excited to run a monthly Quotes for a Cause campaign. Each month, our agency will be donating $5 per new business quote to a nonprofit or charitable organization, regardless of whether or not the policy is actually purchased.

In November, we are partnering with Delta Waverly Rotary and their Weekend Food Backpacks. This initiative is spearheaded by our very own Pat Leyser. The program provides a “survival kit” of food – a plastic bag full of five to seven pounds of nonperishable items. That typically is about twelve items – such as beef stew, soup, fruit juice, mac and cheese and granola bars.

The packs of food are put together, assembly-line style, at Waverly East Intermediate School by volunteer Rotarians. Rotarians then deliver the kits to the schools where they are put inside children’s backpacks for distribution. Thank you to Pat for working so hard on making this program a success!
